It’s summertime, which means you’re probably spending a lot more time outdoors. The best thing about summer is there are so many activities to do outside that cost little or nothing. Take your significant other out to do one of these fun things this weekend.
Walk In A Park/ Nature Preserve.
Few things are more relaxing than taking a walk in a park or a nature preserve. The best news is that this costs absolutely nothing, so invite along someone you love or want to get to know better. If your park is near a lake or river, even better! Take in the sights and enjoy the tranquility of being completely immersed in nature. Pack a picnic lunch before you go!
Go to your favorite outdoor cafe or bar, grab a seat on the patio, and get to know the people
in your community! Some of the coolest people I’ve met have been during my random people watching excursions around town. People watching is a fun solo activity, but it’s even more fun when you’re with someone you care about and enjoy spending time with.
Go On A Scenic Drive
This one is especially fun if you live near the mountains, or by the coast. All it will cost you are filling up your gas tank and luckily gas is cheaper these days than it has been in a long time. Take your partner with you and drive as far away from civilization as you can. Make little stops along the way to take pictures, or go on a short hike.
For all you musicians, grab your acoustic and head to the street corner! This activity not only costs nothing, but you might also even make a little extra cash as you go. Of course, the point of busking is not solely to make money, and it’s to play good music! People are naturally drawn to the positive energy of a couple playing music on a street corner. Be prepared to draw a crowd!
Take A Trip To The Thrift Store
If you love to shop, but don’t have a lot of money to spend, nothing beats an afternoon at the thrift store! If you know how to look, you can find some of the neatest retro gear, no matter your taste in clothing. If you’re not looking for clothes, then you can lose yourself in the knick-knack section. Make sure you also look at the books, you might find some rare, out of print books!
Go To The Library
If you both love books, you can spend hours at your local library. You can usually find things other than books at the library also. My local library likes to do fun stuff like holding adult coloring contests, and the occasional comic book convention. Check your library’s calendar and see if any authors you both enjoy will be coming to speak.
Check Out Your Local College Campus
You can do this even if you’re not a student. College campuses usually have free events like guest speakers and free movie screenings. My university also had a Quidditch tournament once. If you are attending said college, even better because you can get into paid events free, or get a student discount. Check your calendar for events near you.
No matter how you choose to spend your date night, if you’re with someone you care about, you’re guaranteed to have fun. Fun date nights don’t typically require a lot of planning. Just go with the flow and go where the night takes you!
